Lana’s Sightline Story

My Sightline befriender is lovely, and we are approaching our 3-year befriending anniversary in August! We chat about what we’ve been up to each week. She’ll always ask me what theatre show I’ve been to and if I enjoyed it...

Lana’s
Sightline Story

I developed Retinitis Pigmentosa because of Behcet’s Disease when I was younger. I live with my parents and have carers coming to take me out twice a week, so feel quite lucky in that I can get out and about to do some things I like.

Pre-Covid I would access a variety of groups locally that supports people who are sight impaired. Unfortunately, these groups aren’t running anymore, and I don’t use public transport so that hinders me a little nowadays.

I love to go to the theatre and visit different museums. The Lowry Theatre is my nearest and I really enjoyed the performance of “The King and I” there. I always like to catch the local pantomime at Christmas too – that was hilarious last year. I have nieces and nephews, so we all enjoy a trip to catch a show or visit a museum. I do my own online reviews of theatre shows and podcasts too!

We chat about what we’ve been up to each week. She’ll always ask me what theatre show I’ve been to and if I enjoyed it.

We chat about lots of other things too; Becky shares any must watch TV shows she’ recently seen or maybe a new recipe she tried for a meal. I always like to hear what she’s been up to. I don’t know why but sharing day to day things is really comforting to me.
