Taylor’s
Sightline Story
I first noticed changes to my eyesight around eight years ago. Gradually, over time this has progressed, and I have just received confirmation that I am now registered as blind in my right eye.
I reached out to Sightline in June of last year and since then they matched me up with Greg. We hit it off straight away as Greg is also visually impaired; we have similar personalities so the conversation just flows. I live alone but pay for carers to help me and whilst that is nice for some company, Greg and I understand each other so I really value our weekly call.
Greg has been visually impaired all his life so has been a great source of help to me in many ways. From advice on what benefits I couple be entitled to through to offering support for my eye clinic appointments if I am feeling a bit apprehensive; he always offers a friendly, reassuring ear.

“He’s also my weekly comedy act – always finding the bright side of situations and cracking a joke (or several!) through our weekly phone call; one of life’s tonic to gin you might say!“

I don’t ever imagine not speaking with Greg. We’ve been chatting just over a year now and I really hope that continues for a long time. I’d recommend the Sightline telephone befriending service to others; if you’re feeling lonely these calls really can make a difference and lift your spirits; I’m proof of that.
