SIGHTLINE
TRUSTEE

I have been a Trustee with Sightline for approximately 5 years. As someone who has been severely sight impaired since birth, I am able to fully appreciate and understand the issues faced by visually impaired people on a daily basis.

Before retiring, I worked within the charity sector for some 40 years. I was employed by a voluntary youth organisation and more latterly, by Galloways Society for the Blind, giving me skills in leadership, administration, management, fundraising and offering a range of quality services.

“Whilst Sightline has provided a Helpline to people with sight loss in previous years, the Trustees recognise
the importance of the need to develop and expand and now operates a Telephone Befriending Service
which has been in operation since August 2018.”

Here at Sightline, our telephone befriendees are here to help ease isolation or loneliness. I have already been touched by so many of our volunteer stories, they are literally the lifeline to so many of our service users. I am proud to help raise the profile of our telephone befriending service.
