Sightline celebrates after receiving £10,000 in National Lottery funding

Sightline Telephone Befriending is celebrating after being awarded £10,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

This invaluable funding will help Sightline to continue to provide the service which was launched back in August 2018. Since the launch, Sightline has helped more than 250 visually impaired people supported by a team of wonderful volunteers, many of whom are also visually impaired.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

Peter Howard, Chair of Sightline Trustees says: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can continue to make a difference to people’s lives in the sight loss community by providing much needed friendship and support through our telephone befriending service.”

Ian Edwards, Charity Director adds: “If you need our service, would like to become a volunteer, or join others who fund our invaluable work then please call us on 0800 587 2252 or email info@sightline.org.uk. You can also find out much more information on our Befriending Service by clicking here.”

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
